Giving Thanks in Everything

Read | Ephesians 5:15-21

Why would God command us to thank Him regardless of the circumstances? The idea defies human logic. But then, the Lord rarely binds Himself to man-made rules. Scriptural principles serve specific purposes in the Christian’s life. Gratitude keeps us aware of God’s presence, which builds our trust and ultimately strengthens our witness.

We must realize that thankfulness is not based on emotions or a situation’s outcome. We can be grateful even during trials, because God has promised to work all things for our good (Rom. 8:28). That means He has a purpose in mind for each experience, whether pleasant or difficult. A big problem stacked against our small resources sends us running to Him, thankful He has committed to work it to our benefit.

The believer’s part is to trust God will bring good from trials and to discover His plan, which gives further reason for thanking Him. Understanding His intentions renews our strength for facing difficult trials. Expressing gratefulness changes our attitude about God, ourselves, and our situations. Most people allow hurt and stress to form a pessimistic mindset, which negatively impacts every facet of their life. But believers have God’s Spirit working within to provide courage and a flow of thanksgiving.

When we demonstrate thankfulness in harsh circumstances, other people pay attention. Coworkers, family, and friends will want for themselves the peace and energy we derive from a grateful relationship God. So whatever you’re experiencing, go ahead and defy logic—praise the Lord.

We are always responsible of our responses or decisions made, and we cannot blame the negative result of our decisions to others or the circumstance itself. It is why we are endowed with intellect and free will- the ability to understand and make decisions. Hence, our future depends on the present..for what we sow, we shall reap. And though we commit mistakes, still they work together for our own good as assured by Romans 8:28, and that is why we mus be thankful to God for everything, negative or positive that happens in our lives.

thank you for the message, it is very timely because of what I am going through right now, I am away from my children who are all in the Philippines, haven't seen them for 6 years, miss them so much, but circumstances do not allow me to go home. I believe that in God's perfect timing, I would see them, soon.

I thank God that I am no longer the person that allows depression to set on me. I am thankful to God for all things, good or bad. I have a problem with trust, even though I have forgiven them I am really struggling with trusting them again.

Dr. Stanley, Thank you for this message. I know that your insights are correct & that God speaks through you. I thank you for your courage to speak God's message without compromise. I am trying my very best to give thanks in all things, however, I know God sees my heart & though I am trying my best, my trial has been long & difficult. I know God can easily see that my sincerity is lacking...it is not that I do not belive God can do ALL THINGS because I believe that sincerely. I have been in this valley for so long I am having great difficulty in believing it will end...I know God can...I am so tired & alone. Please, if anyone has any insight, critical or otherwise, please ANY INSIGHT would be greatly appreciated....God Bless...

Add my name to your prayer lists...pray with me and for me that I no longer allow this to happen in my own life. I am a save, baptized believing Christian. "Lord help my unbelief". Grow me to be thankful in EVERY situation, knowing that it is for my God and your grace. Help me not to hurt and become discouraged when others hurt me...help me not to stop dead in my tracks because of fear...Lord I love you and need you to be we me in every moment and thought of my life...imbue me with Thy spirit...forgive me of any and every sin...keep me please from sinning by doubting that you care for me...heal my marriage and deliver me an my spouse from sin...remove pride from my spouse so that he will say, "I'm sorry, forgive me"...show him how to love me according to Godly knowledge...to confess and repent of his sin...draw my mother to and my sister and all of my family unto you O'God...In Jesus' name, Amen...ADP
