Reading the Bible

By Dr. Charles Stanley

It is surprising how many people simply do not know how to study Scripture. The truth is, genuine Bible study can take many forms, and it can be as uncomplicated as focusing on a single word or phrase in a passage. (Continue reading Reading the Bible.)

I watch & listen to you every Sunday, God's day. I really enjoy you as one of God's teachers. You are a great pastor, the one I learn & enjoy the most on television. Thank you for your continuing messages through our Lord Jesus Christ.

This has really helped me today. 1/12/12. I have never been told they true why of reading my Bible and where to start. It's always been do it and read it in a year. In my 60 years, most of it as a Christian, I have struggled with reading my Bible daily. I read it for specific reasons, have taught Sunday School and God has always blessed me with wonderful insight into His Word but to do it on my own has been frustrating. Thank you so very much for pointing me in the right directions and with such simplicity. I don't think I'll have a problem any more with reading my Bible. I've enjoyed it the times I was studying it for something and known God to point out things as well as have things come up later that the verses were needed for. Now at last I know what to do on my own time, and without a lesson guidebook to point out directions to go. Thank you so very much! You don't know what this means to me! It's been a long time. I'm nearly 61 years old and was saved as a small child. Jesus has always been a part of my life and God has been leading me in ways I sometimes didn't understand. This morning in your sermon, I found out why I've been going through some of the intense trials I've been going through...I prayed for stronger faith! Today, I understand what's been happening! I didn't put it all together. Thank you so much for your preaching/teaching. God has used you in a precious way today for me.

Thanks so much for this. I've shared it with my son who is just now beginning to realize, after all his efforts are exhausted, he needs a personal relationship with God, the creator of the universe....To God be the glory!

This is not a comment, but a question.for Dr. Stanley. Throughout the bible Jesus is talking and praying to God. What I don't understand is how he can pray to God when he was God on earth?
