The Senior Editor’s primary role is to provide support in the following areas: content editing, writing, and strategy for both donor development and marketing applications.

The Senior Editor is responsible for guiding team members toward final, polished copy that bears all the characteristics of fine writing craft—particularly where storytelling is concerned. As a key collaborator on multifaceted, interdepartmental projects, the Senior Editor should be a creative thinker and possess the ability to translate information and strategic objectives into compelling copy of all lengths. This position reports to the Director of Content.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as primary content editor for the team and provide both writing and copy editing support as needed
  • Assist with creative direction in the ideation phase of projects, in collaboration with the Director of Content, Director of Creative Services, and fellow team members
  • Provide additional content strategy support on a consulting basis to team members and internal clients as needed
  • Work closely with the Content Coordinator and other members of the department to ensure healthy workload and workflow processes
  • Maintain relationships with existing freelancers while identifying new potential writers for consideration to accommodate overflow writing needs
  • Oversee special projects as assigned by Director of Content
  • Be available for occasional travel, as needed
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • All employees are to exhibit spiritual maturity working as part of In Touch Ministries
  • Must be called to work for building God’s kingdom through this aspect of In Touch Ministries
  • Must maintain good job attendance and on time performance
  • Must possess a college degree in English or a related field or the equivalent work experience
  • Must have worked in a professional editorial environment, in both writing and editing capacities, for a minimum of five years (experience leading content teams a plus)
  • Must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with others and influence outcomes through nurturing positivity and healthy dialog
  • Applicants must provide writing samples at the time of applying and may be required to perform both writing and editing tests, together with other professional assessments
