Beyond the Last Road

These servants of Christ are using their gifts to offer comfort and peace to their neighbors.

The Amazon rainforest covers more than 300,000 square miles of dense jungle in Peru. Far beyond the last road, believers from local tribes ply the rivers with a servant’s spirit and a heart for the lost.

The Amazon has at least 12 broad tributaries in Peru and many secondary rivers. Along their banks and deeper in the jungles live members of some 36 indigenous tribes in the northern region alone.

Some indigenous groups have heard the gospel but have never been discipled. Others are entirely unreached. These women are accompanying their husbands at a gospel training center, where the men will be equipped to share Jesus with their neighbors.

Local believers are eager for tools to help them preach in villages up and down rivers and deep in the jungle. Many of them, like Gustavo Ferreira, also pastor house churches in their own villages.

The Aurora Training Center welcomes tribal members from the region for training in evangelism and church planting. Our team recently visited and distributed dozens of devices from the In Touch Messenger Lab.

These men have found life in Christ and now want to spread the good news. Some of them traveled up to eight days by motorized canoe to learn how to share their faith and disciple others.
